There are many dogs in need of rescue and many rescue groups who do heroic and life saving work!

If you are looking to adopt a dog, consider yourself a life saver too!

Advantages to adoption:

There are many advantages to adopting a dog from a rescue group. Most dogs are already spayed or neutered, micro chipped, current on shots, and they often live with a foster who has housebroken the dog and observed how he/she gets along with others (kids, cats, etc). Some people who don't have the time or patience to care for a young puppy prefer to adopt a dog from a foster or rescue because they are often pre-trained and ready for life with a new family. On the other hand, some dogs may have behavior problems because of previous abuse or neglect and may require extra patience and care. Make sure you let your rescue group know what type of dog would fit best in your lifestyle & family!

1. Scroll down the list below (sorted alphabetically by breed) to find the breed of dog you are interested in.

(be sure to look for All breeds, Large Breeds, or Small breeds if you are not looking for a specific breed)

2. Scroll to the right to the "CA Territory" column to see if your location is within the Rescue's territory.

(otherwise you may have to drive a long distance to meet/adopt your preferred dog)

*If you find a rescue group in the list that matches your search criteria, you can click on the "Organization Name" and you will be taken to the Rescue Group's website to see a list of dogs who are available for adoption.
